HONE Commercial Hot Water system

This installation is a standard configuration HONE hot water system in a hotel. Hotels have very large water requirements 12 months of the year. The consultants on the project chose a HONE system due to it having the highest certified output of any thermal renewable technology. The system heats a large volume hot water cylinder which is constantly been drawn from to provide high volumes of hot water all year round on demand 24 hours 7 days a week.

What HONE system has been installed here?

The system installed is a custom commercial HONE Hot Water system.  As with all HONE systems, it was designed completely based on the input site survey and to integrate with the existing systems. Integrating with existing commercial systems is exactly how HONE is designed to integrate; and the cost of integration of high volume hot water is one of the lowest for a HONE project. Like all HONE systems, it can be done without any interruptions to guests or hot water services.

What was the motivation for the business to do the upgrade?

The motivation was the significant energy savings and reduction of CO2. There were also sizable grants available from Government to use HONE.

Where there any challenges with this installation?

The biggest challenge in this installation was the complicated roof layout as the hotel was old but this was designed to suit the existing roof.

What are the savings expected?

This system will save the majority of its annual hot water system based on the demand profile and the location. Savings of 95% will be achieved annually.
